Two military pilots flying F-5F were killed today in an aircraft accident. My opinions are 1. to retire the old airplanes and 2. to reform aviation education in Taiwan. How to fly is easy. You simply push the throttle and accelerate the airplane. Take off when reaching the certain speed. However, it is difficult to promote the flight safety. A pilot must understand aeronautics, aircraft operations, flight limitations, space regulations, aviation physiology and psychology. We need more aviation specialists to reform the aviation education in Taiwan. Yet, Taiwanese aviation specialists do not really study in aviation majors. Their transcripts will tell you what they studied. This situation is very similar to that in Taiwan everyone can teach English as long as they study abroad. Somehow, very few of them are having a major in English Language Teaching. In aviation, I believe most of aviation specialists are sent to the US for a short training. With limited knowledge, they cannot solve the problems. Referring to aviation education in the US, we will know there is a pressing need to improve ours.
